Thin-walled bearing types, characteristics and precautions

As one of the precision component bearings, thin-walled bearings mainly refer to the compact, simplified and lightweight requirements of modern machinery for the design of slewing mechanisms, and have the characteristics of small size, light weight and low friction. Thin-walled bearings are different from standard bearings. In thin-walled bearings, the cross-sectional dimension in each series is designed to be a fixed value, and the cross-sectional dimension is the same in the same series. It does not increase with the increase of the internal size. Therefore, this series of thin-walled bearings are also called equal-section thin-walled bearings. By using the same series of thin-walled bearings, designers can standardize the same common parts.

There are three main types of thin-walled bearings:

1.Radial contact (L type)

2.Angular contact (M type)

3.Four point contact (N type)

Tip: The ferrules in these series of bearings are mainly made of bearing steel and stainless steel.

Features of thin-walled bearings

1. Thin-walled bearings with large internal bores and small cross-sections can be replaced with hollow shafts with large diameters, such as: air, water pipes, and electrical wires can be provided through hollow shafts, making the design simpler.

2. Thin-walled bearings can save space, reduce weight, significantly reduce friction, and provide good rotation accuracy. Without affecting bearing performance and service life, the use of thin-walled bearings can reduce the external dimensions of the design and reduce production costs.

3. Seven open series and five sealed series of thin-wall bearings. The diameter of the inner hole is 1 inch to 40 inches, and the cross-sectional size ranges from 0.1875 × 0.1875 inches to 1.000 × 1.000 inches. There are three types of open bearings: radial contact, angular contact, and four-point contact. Sealed bearings are divided into: radial contact and four-point contact.

Precautions when using thin-walled bearings

1. Ensure that the thin-walled bearings are kept clean and the surrounding environment is clean. Even very fine dust entering the thin-walled bearings will increase the wear, vibration and noise of the thin-walled bearings.

2. When installing thin-walled bearings, strong punching is absolutely not allowed, because the grooves of thin-walled bearings are shallow, and the inner and outer rings are also thin. Strong punching will cause the inner and outer rings of the bearing to separate and other damage. Therefore, when installing, first determine the range of production and installation clearance with the manufacturer, and perform cooperative installation according to the range of clearance.

3. In order to prevent rusting of thin-walled bearings, it must be ensured that the storage environment is dry and moisture-free, and stored away from the ground. When removing the bearing for bearing use, be sure to wear clean gloves to prevent moisture or sweat from sticking to the bearing and causing corrosion.

In the process of using thin-walled bearings, if they are not used properly or if they are not matched well, the expected effect of thin-walled bearings will not be achieved. Therefore, we must pay attention to the above details when using thin-walled bearings.
