What is a sliding bearing?

Sliding bearings, also called bushes, bushings or sleeve bearings, are cylindrical in shape and have no moving parts.

Sliding bearings are used for sliding, rotating, swinging or reciprocating motion. In sliding applications, they are used as sliding bearings, bearing bars and wear plates. In these applications, the sliding surface is usually flat, but it can also be cylindrical, and the movement is always linear rather than rotating. The structure of the sliding bearing can be solid or split (wound bearing) for easy installation.

What are the advantages of XRL’s plane bearings?

Sliding bearings are made of a variety of materials, including metal polymers, engineering plastics, fiber-reinforced composite materials and metals. These materials can reduce noise, increase service life, eliminate lubricants and improve efficiency. The material of the sliding bearing helps to improve its mechanical and tribological properties. Therefore, customers are usually asked to consult XRL’s application engineers to determine the best sliding bearing solution for their application.
